Oxygenating plants grow submerged. Weight the bunches of plants and drop in your pond. No soil required.
We recommend one bunch of oxygenating plants per 2 sq. ft. of surface area of your pond. (If your pond has a dense algae bloom when you add the plants use 1 bunch per 1 sq. ft.) These plants make it very difficult for algae to flourish by using the nutrients in the water that algae thrive on. They also consume most of the available carbon dioxide. These 2 things cause the algae to starve. The foliage serves as a bed to receive the spawn or eggs of fish and provides protection for the baby fish until they can fend for themselves.
For ponds where fish tear up the plants, isolate the plants in a screened off area until plant matures, then spread around pond.
When added early in the spring in recommended amounts the oxygenating plants can prevent a dense algae bloom.
